** What's an NGO?
An acronym which stands for "non-governmental organization" , a common term used in UN parlance and abroad to refer to civil society organizations (as distinct from governments and commercial society). In the US, the terms "non-profit" or "charity" are more commonly used phrases, which are interchangable with NGO in most cases. (Return to top)
