** What's an NGO?
An acronym which stands for "non-governmental organization"
, a common term used in UN parlance and abroad to refer to civil society organizations
(as distinct from governments and commercial society). In the US, the terms
"non-profit" or "charity" are more commonly used phrases,

CitNet's role
The Citizens Network for Sustainable Development
is a loose network of US organizations and individuals dedicated to
building the sustainability movement in the United States. We facilitate
and promote the efforts of our members and others in the sustainable
development field.
As such, CitNet has not explicitly signed onto any of the statements
listed here, but is acting as an online campaign facilitator by promoting
the statements, collecting endorsements, and forwarding them to the
appropriate parties.
