A Civic Alliance to Rebuild Downtown New York
A Civic Alliance to Rebuild Downtown New York (www.civic-alliance.org) has been convened by the Regional Plan Association in partnership with New York University, the New School, and Pratt Institute.
Over 85 civic, business, academic and environmental groups have participated
in the work of the Civic Alliance, including the Citizens Network for
Sustainable
Development (CitNet).
Principles of sustainable development have formed a major component of Civic Alliance's Planning Framework to Rebuild Downtown New York, which includes a separate chapter on Green Buildings and Sustainable Systems.
The Civic Alliance is also organizing a town hall event on Saturday
July 20 called "Listening to the City" where people in New
York can discuss their ideas about plans for downtown. For more information,
call 1 800 862-3154
or go to www.listeningtothecity.org.
