Education for Sustainability
For America to become a sustainable society, it is critical for its citizens to develop a clear understanding and appreciation of sustainability as it relates to their personal security and quality of life, as well as the future of the nation and humanity. Over the years, any CitNet members have joined with others to help build this understanding and to bring the insights and principles of sustainable development into the education system. These pages will explore these efforts.
Decade of Education for Sustainable Development

On March 1-2, a number of CitNet members participated in the First
Annual 
Convocation
of the United States Partnership for the Decade of Education for Sustainable
Development took place. The event brought together educators, policymakers,
business leaders, scientists and civil society representatives to work
towards raising the literacy of the American public about sustainable
development and towards integrating this knowledge into education and
learning in the United States.
