New York State Energy Plan Commits to GHG Reductions
The New York State Energy Plan released Wednesday 6/19 commits to a
statewide goal of reducing greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions 5% below
1990 levels by 2010, and 10% below 1990 levels by 2020.
New York is the eighth state to adopt statewide goals, following New Jersey and the New England states.
New York will also develop a GHG emission registry program for registering base-line GHG emission reductions from actions implemented at facilities. A renewable energy target was set of increasing the share of renewable energy use by 50% by 2020, as a percentage of primary energy use.
The Plan will soon be on the www.NYSERDA.org website. More details can be found in their press release.
